Appliance Removal

Appliances have to be unhooked before they can be hauled. Water lines, gas lines, and hardwired 240-volt connections are plumbing and electrical work — a licensed plumber or electrician handles the shutoff and disconnect, and we handle the weight after. If a washer is already pulled forward with the hoses off, or a fridge is unplugged and thawed with the water line capped, the pickup is fast and cheap. If the water heater is still piped in on a Near West Side basement wall, get it disconnected first, then call us for the carry-out. Being straight about that line saves you money and saves everyone a wasted trip.

Aurora housing stock decides most of the price. In the Tanner Historic District and the older streets off the Near East Side, basement stairs are narrow, treads are short, and the doorway at the top rarely clears a side-by-side refrigerator without the doors coming off — that's a two-man, 20-minute wrestle rather than a curbside grab. Appliance removal versus a general junk load is a real decision. If you have one washer, one fridge, or a water heater and nothing else, per-item appliance pickup is the cheaper path — you pay for that piece, not for truck space you aren't using. Once you're at five or six mixed items, or the appliance is buried behind boxes, a garage full of shelving, and an old mattress, the volume-based load becomes better value because the appliance rides along at no extra premium.
